Overcooked fettuccine Alfredo, burnt brownies, black bottomed garlic bread, and "interesting" avocado spaghetti (found from Pinterest), were on the menu.
8 places were set.

 Wine was poured.

round table discussions were had.

What did I realize from all of this?... The Prospect home was made to have dinner parties. We may not be the best cooks in the world, but we've got some of the greatest friends out there that put up with our cooking mistakes and, at times, uncomfortable table discussions. This is what I love. Sitting around with some of my favorite people, drinking a $3 bottle of wine from Aldi's and just sharing life together.

I know I'm a cheese ball. In fact, I was made fun of just for having my camera out and taking pictures of the night. But it's nights like these that really help me appreciate the things around me. There's just something about sitting down and having a meal with people. It feels so much more intimate than the usual night out downtown or going to the movies. At the dinner table, you're forced to sit there and have conversation. There's no way around it. Conversation ranged from our most embarrassing moments about farting on boys, to first kisses, to where we want to travel in the World. Sitting there were eight people. Some of us in college, some working 9-5 jobs. But we all have our pasts, stories to tell and dreams about our futures. We can all relate with having little money in our bank accounts and no clue where we will actually be in our lives a year from now. Situations like these are just little reminders that I'm not alone in this stage of life. I can dream about what's to come. But at the same time, I want to embrace the NOW. Embrace the "poor college years". Embrace the freedom of singlehood. Embrace the opportunities of a twenty- something.
