Why the blog?

We live in this confusing world where everyone is trying so dang hard to be original and new.

So, here I am, going about this crazy journey trying to figure out what truly makes my heart beat.

I've dabbled here and there with cameras and picture taking,
but no, this is not merely a photography website.

I've experimented with cooking,
but no, this is not a how-to cooking site... (just look at my fricken pinterest and you'll quickly realize this girl can dream of good cooking, but my infamous over soy-sauced stir fry and the occasional chocolate chip cookie recipe is what I stick to).

I've traveled to some pretty cool spots on the globe,
but no, this is not a traveling website.

I've got some pretty great stories about what my students have said,
but no, this is not a teaching site.

I've attempted to do some writing of my thoughts,
but no, this is by no means my diary.

This will be a hodge podge of things. A little of everything going on in my life.

Blogging just flat out intrigues me. I've always had a guilty pleasure in reading other peoples thoughts and finding out how other people process life. On January 1, 2012, I began doing a picture-a-day "New Years Resolution" on this blog. I can say that I did successfully accomplish that. But also found that I became a bit distracted and all consumed by blogging and constantly feeling the need to post about my life every day. So because of this realization, this won't be a blog fixated on sharing every meal I ate every day and every conversation that I had...

But this blog will include far off ramblings, books I'm reading, music I've been listening to, pictures of things that bring joy into my life, recipes I may try, frustrations with the adult "grown up" world, an opinion that may not completely match up with yours, a look into my life as a teacher, trips I've taken, and essentially just trying to find beauty in the ordinary.

This life can become so mundane and routine. I don't want that. I want to wake up every morning and discover something new in my day. New relationships. New perspectives. New locations. New thoughts on a subject. New insights.

We've got one fareakin life to live people.

.. And I'm going to carpe the heck out of this diem.
