I subbed today for a young man with muscular dystrophy. As I went through my day, I couldn't help but feel complete frustration. The frustration didn't at all stem from him. It stemmed from my inability to ask him what sports he plays. It stemmed from the fact that I heard him tell me about how he lost the ability to walk last year. It stemmed from the fact that he told me about the bullies who pick on him throughout his day at the Highschool.

While we were eating lunch together in his "private office", as he called it. He proudly displayed his new bookmark he created for his book How to Train a Dragon. On the bookmark was a picture of himself as a boy. He joyfully explained to me "that was when I could walk"!

As I left the school and headed to go workout, I couldn't help but just feel sick at my stomach. Why have I been blessed with the ability to go train for a marathon? Why do I get to hang out with friends and play volleyball every Monday night?... and he can't.... and yet, this guy has so much joy and energy about life it is ridiculous. Put things in perspective for me today..
