Forced substitute apology letters. Yet another reason why I love this job...

Tonight reinforced to me that surprise parties make me so uncomfortable. I don't know what it is about sitting in a dark room, anticipating someone to walk in and see a group of us just sitting in their living room ready to scream in their face and throw balloons at them, but it just gives me an unsettling feeling. Despite my awkward feelings for surprises, I had so much fun tonight celebrating Cam.

Cam has such an amazing spirit about him. It's been so cool to be able to watch how God has completely stolen this guy's heart in the last year. His love for serving people is so evident and God honoring, and he always has a smile on his face. There aren't many guys out there who are willing to step up and actually be the men that they are called to be. Cam is one of the few. He is an amazing friend, brother and son. He's always looking out for all of us girls and wants us to be protected both physically and emotionally from the harms of this world. Need an example? When our house was robbed in the fall, Cam was one of the first people to rush over to the house. He offered to sleep on our couch just so we knew we had a male figure in the house and felt safe. He's like a brother that I never had.

Despite brokenness and pain in his life, he still praises Jesus through it. He's taken something that so many people would see as a horrible thing, and has found ways to serve people through it. That is such an amazing gift, as is my friendship that has grown this year with Cam.

Colorado is going to be gaining one heck of a cool guy in May.
